Permission granted for Cogges Link Road planning application
PERMISSION was granted yesterday for a planning application to be submitted for the long-awaited Cogges Link Road.
The £16.4m road is seen as vital to the traffic network in Witney, providing a second crossing over the river Windrush and easing congestion in Bridge Street.
Permission was granted for the planning application in a transport cabinet meeting at County Hall.
However, the roads construction requires a compulsory purchase order of land, and objections are anticipated, triggering a public inquiry, planned for this autumn.
Planning consent was given for the road 11 years ago, but it did not go ahead because of a lack of money.

So no one ever thought about actually upgrading the A40 junction instead!!! Nope of course not as they will want to build around the link road as well, and will be a good excuse to..
what a way to get around building on flood risk land.!

Said it before. Do Shores Green first and see how that works and if it does not then do the Cogges link road. But don't build anymore houses in Witney until the roads are sorted. We are heading for grid lock

When are people going to stop talking about crackpot schemes like Shores Green which would benefit very few. Get on with the Cogges Link which is the only scheme that will fulfill the requirements. However I do agree with Nigel on one point--- do something before any more development takes place or the traffic in Witney will become intolerable.
